Behavioral Unit
Hillcrest Medical Center

As a nurse in Hillcrest Medical Center’s behavioral unit, I often see patients who have not been treated with they respect they deserve in life. I sincerely enjoy getting to know each of these individuals and making them feel appreciated and like a real human being.

I definitely believe I’ve found the right career for me, and it’s nice to have co-workers who feel the same way. The other nurses on our unit go above and beyond. I remember a patient who had been with us for nearly a week when one of the nurses noticed it was his birthday. On short notice, she arranged for the cafeteria to bring a cake, and we all celebrated with the other patients.

Hillcrest Medical Center is such a special place. Often, our department has dinners and appreciation events for the nurses, and the hospital also makes an effort to recognize employees who stand out. It’s also rewarding to help others feel appreciated and to know that you are making a difference for another person.
