Quality Control Coordinator, Medical Records
Hillcrest Medical Center
When I began working at Hillcrest Medical Center, medical records were paper-based. Now I work with a department of about 30 people who are responsible for scanning records into electronic form and training people to use our system. As a quality control coordinator, I am responsible for making sure those records are legible.
My favorite part of my job is the people I work with. My supervisors make me feel wanted and that my work is valuable. When I perform quality checks and catch a mistake, no matter how minor, I feel like I’m helping someone.
I also like the fact there are opportunities for advancement within my department. People here want to perform well because the hospital is always looking to promote from within. My position is flexible, and the hours are wonderful. I have young children so it’s great that I’m able to be there when they come home from school.
